Universities of Brazil, Ecuador, and Chile are co-founders of TECLIN
The net must be expanded in their zone

On 30th June, it was presented the UNESCO Chair in Linguistic Technologies (TECLIN) of the Polytechnic University of Madrid. The founding institutions are, apart from the UPM, the I3G Institute of Florianópolis (Brazil), the Particular Technic University of Loja (Ecuador), and the Catholic University of Temuco (Chile). All of them has been chosen as leaders in their countries, which means that they should expand the net in their zone, explains the Catholic University of Temuco in tis web.
According to Arturo Fernández, pro-rector of the University, being part of this Chair as representative, under de protection of the UNESCO, means “a responsibility and an opportunity for the work on the linguistic field, which offers unsuspected possibilities in the research in indigenous languages, in the creation of dictionaries, texts for the teaching of these languages, transfer of technologies for other members of the net, and in the search of social applications of this programs”.
The Chair begins its work with Latin American Universities to expand later on throughout America, Europe, and the rest of the world, promoting the creation of technological companies, which, in addiction, can support majority and commercial languages, apart from considering the offer of an International Master on Linguistic Technology, which will be taught by the UPM.
