The TECLIN Chair is creating an academic infrastructure specialised in the most advanced technologies of Linguistic Engineering to produce contents in indigenous languages, initially in Quechua, Guarani, and Mapuche.
The acquired experience in the development of applications has led the Chair to create a teaching group to teach the first International Master’s Degree in Linguistic Engineering, currently under development.
The UNESCO and the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) have launched an UNESCO Chair of linguistic technologies named TECLIN. One of its applications will be promoting the use of the native language of these communities in education.
The Chair arises from a deep social need. From experiences of the last 30 years, it is known that one of the causes of the digital divide in childhood education is the use of dominant languages instead of local languages. lenguas locales.
