Within the II International Meeting of the UNESCO Chair in Linguistic Technologies, the rector of the Catholic University of Temuco (Chile), Dr. Aliro Bórquez Ramírez, underlined the opportunity of integrating the businessmen of the region in specific topics such as the UNESCO Chair TECLIN, since the Chair, in addition to centre its activities in higher education, brings closer the concept of Linguistic Engineering to various systems.

Moreover, Jesús Cardeñosa, director of the Chair and Professor of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, made public the potentiality that emerge from the union of the Catholic University of Temuco and the creation of the Chile Node of the UNESCO Chair in Linguistic Technologies. The expert said that leading countries from Europe and United States have declared that in the near future the use of linguistic technologies will be a distinctive aspect for the economy in virtue of integrating strategies and technologies that help in the development of communication between countries, and in the companies.

In this context, each of the representatives of Rosen, Chamber of Commerce of the Araucanía, Corma and Araucanía Frutícola have agreed in the fact that the Catholic University of Temuco has managed to channel the demands of the productive sector of the region, both by the creation of courses or by the training of future professionals according to the market demands. In this respect, the opportunity of working together with the University and the UNESCO make it possible to improve much of the processes that the companies carry out.

Finally, the pro-rector of the Catholic University of Temuco, Arturo Hernández, referred to the different aspects that the agreement covers, since the UNESCO Chair TECLIN centres its activities in higher education in Linguistic Technologies and in social applications of technology, as for example texts in native indigenous languages, children education, illiteracy, and the consequences of cultural diversity.
